Estrella Godinez is a first-year doctoral student in Counselor Education at Sam Houston State University. Her academic background includes research on the mental health of immigrant youth, adolescent psychopathology—particularly borderline personality disorder—and the impact of insecure parental attachment on risky sexual behavior. She is also the author of A Yearning Desire (Un Deseo Anhelante), a bilingual short story featured in Serving Refugee Children, and has contributed to training materials for school counselors and administrators.
Clinically, Ms. Godinez supports adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidality, and major life transitions. She also works with high-functioning adults navigating burnout, and with couples dealing with infidelity, resentment, and communication difficulties. Fluent in Spanish, she offers culturally responsive care to Latinx families.
