Jonathan Rea, LPC, LCDC, NCC, is a dedicated psychotherapist, counselor educator, researcher, and consultant with a deep passion for helping individuals navigate mental health challenges. With extensive experience working with adolescents and adults facing anxiety, depression, and complex trauma, he provides a compassionate, non-judgmental space for healing and personal growth. His background in working with individuals recovering from substance use disorders, couples, and families allows him to offer a unique, person-centered approach tailored to each client’s needs. Jonathan’s therapeutic philosophy is rooted in empathy, acceptance, and the belief that every individual has the strength to rewrite their own story.

We are excited to introduce Aubree Matthews, a Graduate Counseling Intern completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Sam Houston State University. With a B.A. in Victim Studies and expertise in Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, CBT, and DBT, Aubree provides compassionate, client-centered care tailored to individual needs.
Aubree offers individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults. While specializing in treating substance use disorders, relationship concerns, and trauma, she is also a generalist available to help anyone seeking support.

Counseling Intern

Estrella Godinez

Estrella Godinez is a first-year doctoral student in Counselor Education at Sam Houston State University. Her academic background includes research on the mental health of immigrant youth, adolescent psychopathology—particularly borderline personality disorder—and the impact of insecure parental attachment on risky sexual behavior. She is also the author of A Yearning Desire (Un Deseo Anhelante), a bilingual short story featured in Serving Refugee Children, and has contributed to training materials for school counselors and administrators.

Clinically, Ms. Godinez supports adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidality, and major life transitions. She also works with high-functioning adults navigating burnout, and with couples dealing with infidelity, resentment, and communication difficulties. Fluent in Spanish, she offers culturally responsive care to Latinx families. Her person-centered, research-informed approach creates a supportive environment for healing, growth, and self-understanding.
